Focus Verse
Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: (KJV)

What if you could read people’s minds?
Reading people’s minds is something relegated to science fiction. But did you know that people can read into your words and actions? There are a lot of people that are pretty good at noticing when one’s words don’t match their actions. For example, if you say you love Jesus but act like you’re best buds with the devil, well, that may call your faith into question.
Consider how Jesus was described in John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jesus is the Word? What an unusual description. But think about the Creation story. How did God bring everything into existence? He spoke, and everything came to be. Words are powerful, especially when they come from God.
We have tangible evidence of God’s word every time we open the Bible. Paul wrote, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God.” In other words, all scripture is God-breathed.
Not only do we have God’s sacred text, but Paul told the Corinthians “You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men.” In a way, we are walking billboards of God’s grace.
Today's Devotion
Jacob strolled down the busy city sidewalk with his mother between the towering skyscrapers. Intermingled with the bustling crowds were men and women with billboards draped across their shoulders. They were advertising everything from cellular phone plans to mom and pop restaurants. One billboard caught Jacob’s attention more than any of the others. It simply read, “Jesus saves.”
“Check that out, Mom,” he said, pointing to the sign. “That’s pretty cool, huh? She’s brave to do that.”
“I agree,” Mom replied.
“You know what this reminds me of?” Jacob said. “Isn’t there a verse that says we’re epistles known and read of all men.”
“There is,” she said. “What made you think about that?”
“Well, when I read that billboard, I knew right away that the lady who wore it must believe that Jesus saves. Otherwise, why advertise it?”
“That’s pretty clever, Jacob. But you know what’s better than a billboard? Letting your life speak your faith in Jesus. This means sharing your testimony and making choices that honor our Savior, Jesus Christ. If you do, just as easy as reading an epistle, or a billboard for that matter, people will know what you believe by your words and actions.”
“That’s pretty deep stuff, Mom,” Jacob said. “But I have a confession.”
“What’s that?”
“There was another sign that caught my eye. The one about Luigi’s Pizza. I’m starving.”
Mom laughed. “It’s time for dinner anyway, and Luigi’s is a great pizza joint. I just have one more errand to make then we stop can there before heading home?”
“I’m reading you loud and clear,” Jacob joked.
Wrap Up
Just imagine, you are walking advertisements of Jesus’ grace to the world. How do you promote Him to the people you meet? A genuine love for God, encouraging words, your testimony, a holy lifestyle? These are just a few ways you advertise God’s abundant life. In everything you do, let the world know that your love for Jesus is real.
How do you bring awareness of God’s love to those around you?
